Sargei Onopriyenko: "I'm a bartender, not a mixologist. If you're looking for someone who only mixes drinks, you can settle for a machine… but people want to have that human, personal touch; that's my role…

Cramim Imperial Red's Sargei Onopriyenko has strong views about the bartender's role in this day and age:
I'm not here to educate, but to be part of an experience. For me the guest, and whoever is across my bar is my guest, is definitely not a costumer! It is a guest that I want please, make him happy…
"I see the person across the bar and ask him or her a few questions: In what mood are you in? In what place on earth would you like to be? After a few moments I already have some ideas of what they'd like to drink… that moment could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship that last throughout the night, and sometimes in the following days… these 'little' connections are the added value of this work… you'll be surprised to hear what I know of a person by the end of the evening…. It is said that a good bartender is also part-psychologist"…
Sargei is a professional - he's been working for the past 9 years in Israeli bars and Scottish distilleries, participated in international bartending competitions and hosted whiskey and wine workshops. And most importantly: He truly loves his work!
